Shibula
Lodge and Bush Spa, a five star accredited lodge in the Welgevonden
Game Reserve in Limpopo Province, South Africa and offers the
discerning visitor African in all its untamed magnificence,
along with truly superb standards of hospitality.

Superbly situated close to the best game viewing areas of the
36 000 hectare private Welgevonden Game Reserve. Shibula Lodge
hugs the banks of a scenic river and has magnificent views of
the overhanging cliffs, where the antics of the resident baboon
troop entertain guests.
This malaria-free reserve, where the big five (Lion, Rhino,
Buffalo, Elephant and Leopard) roam freely, is home to an extraordinary
diversity of plant and animal wildlife, as well as more than
350 species of birds. Shibula has access to the entire 36 000
ha reserve which forms part of a bigger 100 000 ha game reserve.
Guests are assured of exceptional game viewing. Including some
of the best Rhino sightings on the continent. Large variety
of different antelope can be seen in one game reserve than in
any other game reserve in Southern Africa. Rare game species
includes Aardvark and Brown Hyena, Eland, Gemsbok, Tsessebe
and Bush Pig. Night game drives give the visitor an insight
into South African nocturnal wildlife.
ACCOMMODATION
Guests have a choice of eight luxuriously furnished suites;
all fitted Victorian baths, inside and outside showers, private
patios and mini bars.
We have four standard suites, 1, 2, 3, 4. Suites 1 and 4 are
not as spacious as the luxury suites, but do have an outside
Jacuzzi.
The luxury suites, 5 and 8 both with air con are more spacious
and luxurious as the standard suites. Suite 5 has a private
lounge with fireplace and outside Jacuzzi. Suite 6 and 7 has
a private lounge with fireplace, satellite TV, a private patio
and splash pool. Ideal for a family or a small group of four.
Suite 8 has a private lounge, fire place and a spa bath in the
bedroom.
The décor in the lodge has been acclaimed by all as being
exceptional and unique. As far as the décor is concerned,
Shibula is a real “lady in the bush”. Lace and crystal
subtly blend with authentic African culture. The interior of
Shibula gives one a classis ethnic feel.
Decorated
by Adila, each piece is handpicked and the special attention
to detail has given Shibula its unique classic ethnic feel.
Each chalet is individually furnished in a different style and
each room has a décor style, which reflects the name
of the unit.

"Shibula's therapist is on hand to provide relaxing and
rejuvenating treatments in our newly renovated Bush Spa in the
heart of Welgevonden Game Reserve. Products locally produced
in South Africa add to this truly African experience.
Let the natural sounds and smells of Shibula be the background
to your personal body treatments with an abundance of exotic
herbs and essential oils to provide the ultimate in relaxation
and rejuvenation. In the comfort of our Bush Spa take your body
on a sense safari! With indigenous base oil ingredients such
as Marula and Baobab, rooibos extract and Kalahari Watermelon
the true richness of Africa come to life."

CUISINE
AND DINE
Dine
in an intimate wine cellar, enjoy starlight boma dinners, with
traditional potjiekos and other Gourmet dishes and be entertained
by our resident Shibula singers and dancers. The main deck overlooks
the waterhole while listening to the nightly antics of the resident
baboon troop, private dining in the Shibula Royal Suite, the
Presidential Suite or in the wine cellar.
Table settings are done in an artistic manner by fully trained
personnel.
Our own specially designed wine cellar compliments the healthy,
distinctly African-inspired freshly prepared cuisine by our
master chef. The wine cellar is stocked with an excellent selection
of South African award-winning wines.
The wine cellar is an excellent venue for private dining by
special arrangement.
The owner of Shibula, Francois Klomp is also the owner of The
Freedom Hill Wine Estate, and he is personally involved in our
wine selection.
