VOORTREKKER MONUMENT AND JAN SMUTS HOUSE

ZAR1250-00 per person, Minimum. 2 (5 Hours)

The Voortrekker Monument is a monument situated in the city of Pretoria, South Africa. The massive granite structure, built to honour the Voortrekkers (Pioneers) who left the Cape Colony in the thousands between 1835 and 1854, was designed by the architect Gerard Moerdijk who had the ideal to design a "monument that would stand a thousand years to describe the history and the meaning of the Great Trek to its descendants". It can be seen from almost any location in the city, as it is seated on a hilltop.

Take a stroll through the Voortrekker Monument to discover the history and story of the Voortrekkers from when they left the Cape to the hinterland, including the Zulu War’s etc. In the museum, you can see artefacts collected from battle fields in this historical period of South Africa. We leave the monument and travel to Jan Smuts House where this world famous statesman lived while he was Prime Minister of South Africa.
