Expedition Breakdown
This is a basic breakdown of the expeditions that we offer.
Additional costs to the clients will include extras such as bungee
jumping etc. We include a boat cruise on the Okavango, booze-cruise
on the Zambizi (Vic. Falls) and a day trip to the Bazaruto Islands
in Mozambique. Depending of course on the safari chosen! i.e. we cannot
offer a boat cruise on the Okavango if you have booked onto the Mozambique
Trip.
All
vehicles are Land Cruiser and Land Rover station wagons with the best
4x4 capabilities and are fitted with freezers, air conditioning and
experienced drivers with vast knowledge of wildlife ecology.
The
vehicles are fitted with 220 volt inverters and international adapters
to facilitate any electronic equipment that you may have.
Accommodation
is provided in the form of large rip-stop canvas "parachute"
style tents that sleep two people with room left over for a barn dace!
Maximum
number of people per trip is eight. Minimum is two.
Trips start and finish at Hoedspruit and/or Johannesburg.
We
can also collect or drop clients at Maputo (Mozambique), Lusaka (Zambia),
Livingstone (Zambia), Maun (Botswana) or Gabarone (Botswana) as well
as Blantyre or Lilongwe in Malawi.
The
expeditions are fully inclusive of the following:
All
equipment is provided: Tents, cooking utensils, cutlery & crockery,
chairs, camp light, water.
We provide and prepare all food. It is recommended that participants
have a small amount of cash on hand (US Dollar, Euro or Pound will
do) in order to purchase any additional snacks en route.
We do not provide alcoholic or cool drinks and time will be made for
participants to purchase these on the day of departure as well as
various stop-overs en route.
Park
entrance fees and tourist attractions en route are included.
All accommodation fees are included.
Border
fees are included.
It
is advised that participants have additional cash for other activities
such as diving expeditions, water sports, scenic flights, bungee-jumping
(or related activities) - depending on expeditions.
We include a scenic boat cruise on the Okavango and Zambezi River
(Botswana and Zambia trips only).
Money can be drawn at the following points en route: South Africa
(prior and post trip), BOTSWANA: Maun, Francis Town, Kasane; ZAMBIA:
Livingstone, Lusaka, Chipata, Mfuwe; MALAWI: Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mangotchi;
MOZAMBIQUE: Maputo, Beira, Vilanculos, Quelimane, Ile de Mozambique,
Phemba.
Visa
and Mastercard is also accepted at the major destinations mentioned
above as well as at many of the destinations and private rest camps.
When we overnight or base ourselves at private rest camps, cash is
useful as the bars will normally only work on cash.
The
purchase of curios and trinkets / souvenirs, memorabilia, etc, will
be cash only. Local currencies can be exchanged at various points
en route and can also be drawn at banks at the places mentioned
above. Be that as it may, the USD, Pound Sterling and Euro is accepted
all over (albeit at a dodgy exchange rate at times!). There will also be time made for visits to internet facilities so
that participants can catch up with their e-mails and the inevitable
Facebook! Major centers where this will be possible = Maun(Botswana),
Livingstone + Lusaka (Zambia), Cape Mc Clear/Monkey Bay & Senga
Bay (Malawi), Maputo, Beira, Quelimane & Phemba (Mozambique).
Participants
are required to bring the following: Sleeping bags, bug spray (highest
DEET factor), malaria prophylaxis, clothing, toiletries’,
torch (head lights are recommended), camera (optional), binoculars
(optional), passports, travel insurances.
